Frank Abagnale, Catch Me If You Can, Author and Consultant

Frank W. Abagnale is one of the world's most respected authorities on forgery, embezzlement and secure documents. For over 40 years he has worked with, advised and consulted with hundreds of financial institutions, corporations and government agencies around the world.

Mr. Abagnale's rare blend of knowledge and expertise began more than 45 years ago when he was known as one of the world's most famous confidence men. This was depicted most graphically in his best-selling book, Catch Me If You Can, a film of which was also made, directed by Steven Spielberg with Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks. A Broadway musical of the same title was also created and in April 2011 opened on Broadway and won a Tony Award.
Apprehended by the French police when he was 21 years old, he served time in the French, Swedish and U. S. prison systems. After five years he was released on the condition that he would help the federal government, without remuneration, by teaching and assisting federal law enforcement agencies.

Mr. Abagnale has now been associated with the FBI for over four decades . More than 14,000 financial institutions, corporations and law enforcement agencies use his fraud prevention programs. In 1998 he was selected as a distinguished member of "Pinnacle 400" by CNN Financial News - a select group of 400 people chosen on the basis of great accomplishment and success in their fields. In 2004 Mr. Abagnale was selected as the spokesperson for the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA). He has also written numerous articles and books including The Art of the StealThe Real U Guide to Identity Theft and Stealing Your Life.


David M. Cieslak, CPA.CITP, GSEC, Principal, Arxis Technology, Inc.

Cieslak is a Principal with Arxis Technology, Inc., a computer consulting firm with offices in Southern California, Chicago and Phoenix. He specializes in micro-computer accounting systems, information security, the Windows operating environment, eCommerce, handheld computing, systems development and project management. He is currently an instructor for K2 Enterprises and frequent speaker for the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and other state accounting societies. He speaks on computerized accounting topics, information security, handheld computing, electronic commerce, Linux and the Windows operating environment. He has taught micro-computer classes for California State University at Northridge and written articles for The Quantum PC Report for CPAs, CSCPA Outlook, California CPA, and the AICPA InfoTech Update. He is currently on the editorial board of the CPA Technology Advisor and the California CPA. He is a Sage ACCPAC ERP and Sage ACCPAC Plus Certified Consultant, a Windows Certified Professional and holds the GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC).


Nicole Kalmbach, Team Leader - Training, Consulting & Implementation Services, Thomson Reuters

Nicole Kalmbach serves as Team Leader in the Training, Consulting, & Implementation Services at Thomson Reuters. Her responsibilities include managing direct reports, guiding and coaching trainers who present content to external clients, evaluating performance and quality, and facilitating department events.

Prior to her current role, Nicole has over 9 years’ experience in Sales and 6 years’ experience in Support, both of which allowed her to hone her people management skills. Working with a variety of people has taught her the importance of quality service while building strong client relationships.

Nicole holds a BA in Business Management with a concentration in Human Resources from Eastern Michigan University.

Chris Frederiksen, CPA, CGMA, Panalitix USA Inc.

Chris Frederiksen, CPA, is an internationally known consultant, author and seminar leader working exclusively within the accounting profession. For the past several years, Chris has been named by Accounting Today as one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in the Accounting Profession. As West Coast partner of Transition Advisors, he is actively helping firms with transition issues including retirement, succession, partner admission, mergers and acquisitions.


Michael Giardina, President, Office Tools

Michael Giardina serves as CEO of Office Tools, which provides Practice Management software, educational conferences and the My Office Today magazine. He is the Chief Designer and Architect of their Workspace ™ and WorkSpace™ Online software, currently in its fifteenth year. Previously, Michael owned his own tax practice, provided IT consulting to accounting firms and was employed by multiple tax accounting firms. Prior to this, he worked with CCH Computax for 10 years as a trainer and product specialist. Michael routinely speaks at Accounting & Tax Conferences as well as online seminars on the benefits of technology and effective firm management. Having personally worked with over 500 firms, he continues to consult on office efficiencies and new technologies to improve firm practice management. Michael holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from Metropolitan State College, Denver, Colorado.


Stacy Kildal, Certified QuickBooks Advance ProAdvisor, Intuit

Kildal is owner/operator of Kildal Services LLC, located in Waterford Michigan—a full service bookkeeping company that specializes in all things QuickBooks. As a Certified Professional Bookkeeper and Advanced QuickBooks ProAdvisor, she supports QuickBooks clients all over the country, offering payroll, bookkeeping, training and consulting.

She regularly teaches QuickBooks workshops through the local county planning and economic development department, along with community college and continuing education classes for various school districts. Stacy is one of the three hosts for the Radio Free QuickBooks weekly online radio show.

As a member of the esteemed Intuit Trainer/Writer Network, Stacy has presented many live seminars and webinars. Her attendees enjoy the passion she exhibits for her work and can easily relate to the many real life examples she uses during these presentations. She has also been featured frequently on Intuit's Community "Ask the Expert" forums, at various Intuit Academy To Go podcasts, as well as hosting a number of Intuit Small Business Online Town Hall sessions. She an big fan of working mobile and has been recognized by Intuit as being an expert on QuickBooks Online, having written the Intuit Academy courses for the US, Singapore and Canadian versions.

Edward Kless, Sr Director, Partner Dev and Strategy, Sage North America

Ed Kless joined Sage in July of 2003 and is currently the senior director of partner development and strategy. He develops and delivers curriculum for Sage business partners on the art and practice of small business consulting including the Sage Consulting Academy, Business Strategy and Customer Experience Workshops. He also facilitates the Sage Leadership Academy, a year-long program designed to assist Sage Software partners develop a continuous process of improvement in their organizations and serves as liaison to the Sage Leadership Academy Alumni Association.

Prior to joining Sage, Ed worked with Tipping Point Advisors, an organization dedicated to the growth and development of software implementation partners. In 1996, he co-founded Third Wave Business Systems, a Microsoft Dynamics GP partner that grew to 20 team members and $5 million in revenue. At Third Wave, Ed developed the implementation methodology and led the CRM and ERP consulting teams.

Ed is a frequent contributor to industry publications, including the Journal of Accountancy, Harvard Business Review and HR.com, and has spoken at many conferences worldwide on project management, pricing, and knowledge workers. He is also active in the Information Technology Alliance (ITA), Toastmasters, and is a senior fellow at the VeraSage Institute. He lives north of Dallas with his wife and two children and ran for Texas State Senate in 2010 as a Libertarian.

Gregory L. LaFollette, CPA.CITP, CGMA, VP Product Strategy, CPA.com

Greg LaFollette is a consultant, speaker, and an acknowledged expert in the area of technology and accounting. After beginning his career as a CPA in the 1970's in public practice, he quickly developed an interest in technology and how it impacts the public accounting space. Greg was an early adopter of Webcasting and Podcasting, and the founder (in 2004) of The Tech Gap, the first blog dedicated specifically to area of tax and technology. His interdisciplinary career path has allowed Greg to bring a 360° perspective to many of the issues of modern accountancy, including Change Management, Technology Trends, Disruptive Technology, and other areas impacting CPA's and their clients. In 2010 Greg LaFollette was named as one of Accounting Technology's Top 25 Thought-­Leaders, and in February, 2011 he was named to the CPA Practice Advisor's "Hall of Fame".

Greg began his career in Sioux Falls, SD after completing his professional accountancy training at Augustana College. While still in public practice, Greg was offered and accepted a position on the Thompson Reuters Creative Solutions Advisory Board. In 1998, Greg left public practice and Sioux Falls in order to join Thompson Reuters full time, moving to Ann Arbor when he accepted the position of Vice President of Product Strategy. In 2004, Greg left Thompson Reuters to open a private consulting practice, and shortly thereafter accepted a position as Executive Editor of the CPA Technology Advisor (an official publication of the National Society of Accountants). Greg's tenure at the CPA Technology Advisor (now known as the CPA Practice Advisor) lasted through 2009, and in 2010 he accepted a position as VP Product Strategy with CPA.com, a subsidiary of the American Institute of CPA's. Although Greg has retired from the position as of January 2014, he maintains an ongoing relationship with CPA.com in an advisory capacity.

Greg continues to travel for consulting and public speaking purposes, giving keynotes for state and national CPA conferences throughout the United States. He is currently a member of the Subject Matter Panel on Technology for the Journal of Accountancy, and serves as Vice-­ Chair of the Board of Ethics for the city of Sioux Falls, where he once again resides. When he is not on a plane to somewhere, Greg enjoys volunteering as a high school Oral Interp coach, spending time with his family, exercise, and serving on the Boards of Directors of local theatre and social service agencies.


Samantha Mansfield, Dir Corporate Communications, CPA.com

Samantha Mansfield, Director of Corporate Communications, CPA.com, has been in the tax and accounting technology industry since 2000. During that time she has consulted with firms of all sizes and spoken on workflow and web services implementations. In addition, she has trained on the use of technology as well as assisted firms in finding the right solutions for their needs. Over the last decade she has incorporated these insights to develop and deliver educational summits and workshops to help firms accelerate their growth.

Her bachelor's degree is from Hillsdale College in Business Administration/ Marketing. Samantha has also served on the board of 2 not for profit organizations for several years as various officers. She is driven everyday by sharing information that helps people grow and succeed!

In 2015 Samantha was honored on the CPA Practice Advisor's "40 Under 40" list, and mentioned as an up and comer on Accounting Today's "Top 100 Most Influential in Accounting."


Gail Perry, Editor-in-Chief, CPA Practice Advisor

Gail Perry is the U.S. Editor-in-Chief at Sift Media and oversees the content on two web sites: AccountingWEB.com and GoingConcern.com. She also speaks at many accounting events, trade shows, and web seminars. Perry is the author of 30 books (the latest is Mint.com For Dummies), teaches an online personal finance course, and maintains a small tax practice. She is a graduate of Indiana University where she got a bachelors degree in journalism. She returned to school to study accounting at Illinois State University, got her CPA, and worked for Deloitte in the Chicago tax department. She also taught a college-level introductory accounting class and was on staff at the Indiana CPA Society as a computer applications instructor. Gail was a contributing editor for Accounting Today magazine for five years and a newspaper columnist for the Indianapolis Star before taking over the helm at AccountingWEB.

Amy Vetter, Global VP, Education & Enablement, Head of Accounting, Xero

David Leary, Sr. Developer Evangelist, Intuit Developer Group

David Leary is a Small Business Ecosystem Evangelist at Intuit and an innovative force in the small business accounting world. His business sense, vast technical knowledge and domain expertise has helped bridge the gap between developers, small business owners and accountants. David has worked multiple roles during his 19+ year career at Intuit: QuickBooks Support, Training, QA, Development, Marketing, Product and Project Management. In his current role, David focuses on bringing third party SaaS solutions that work with QuickBooks Online to Apps.com. In 2015, David was named by Accounting Today as a "One to Watch" in their Top 100 Most Influential People issue, was a ViewMyPaycheck co-founder, and a 2014 CPA Practice Advisor "40 under 40".
